Specialists in offshore energy assets structural monitoring

Floating offshore wind turbines, wave energy converters, and floating solar platforms operate in environments where real loads — governing fatigue life, hydrodynamics, mooring performance, and structural integrity — remain largely unknown at design stage, yet directly determine asset survivability, availability, and O&M cost.

At Inalia, we dissipate the uncertainty by measuring that reality and translate it into engineering decisions — from closing the gap between design assumptions and actual structural behaviour during development, to monitoring structural health and supporting informed maintenance strategies throughout operational life.

WHY INALIA

We offer

Inalia offers large experience on monitoring strategy design, virtual modelling, delivery, and installation of turnkey monitoring systems in offshore environment.  All the way through to data analysis, diagnosis and digital twins.

offshore-rd-_apdo-1-mooring-load-monitoring

Mooring load monitoring

Depending on asset type, accessibility, and operational requirements, we combine mooring direct load measurement technologies at lug and shackle level, direct chain tension and indirect load measurement methods at strategic foundation points — integrated with motion, position, and environmental data.

offshore-rd-_apdo-2-fiel-testing-prototype

Field testing & prototype performance monitoring

We have wide experience designing and deploying end-to-end monitoring systems for offshore energy assets — including WECs, tidal turbines, and floating wind platforms — combining field measurements with structural and hydrodynamic simulations (FEM, CFD, OrcaFlex) to assess performance, validate designs, and evaluate structural reliability under real operating conditions.

Our scope covers the full cycle: tailored monitoring strategy and sensor architecture, offshore installation and commissioning, real-time data acquisition, advanced structural and hydrodynamic analysis, and model correlation and digital twin development.

offshore-rd-hydrodynamic-structural-cfd-simulation

Hydrodynamic, structural & CFD simulation. Structural dimensioning and correlation capabilities

Using OrcaFlex, Cradle CFD, and FEM, we simulate and analyze offshore systems under real marine conditions — providing the analytical foundation for structural dimensioning, hydrodynamic and fluid dynamic characterization, extreme and fatigue load assessment, and optimization of monitoring strategies. Simulation results can be systematically correlated with field measurements to validate models and improve engineering decisions.

offshore-rd-sensor-installation

Sensor installation & commissioning

Our team has hands-on experience installing and commissioning structural monitoring systems in challenging marine environments, including floating wind, floating solar platforms, WECs. We handle hardware selection, custom housing and protecting solutions for sensors and connectors, and communication systems for remote and difficult-to-access installations — ensuring the system performs reliably from day one and throughout its operational life.

offshore-rd-help-to-turn-data

Help to turn your data into structural insights

If you already have field data, we help you to interpretate and translate it into actionable structural knowledge — identifying critical events, assessing real fatigue loads, damage accumulation.

We have developed dedicated tools to efficiently manage, process, and validate large data volumes, enabling a smooth transition from raw acquisition to advanced structural analysis.

Throughout this process, virtual models — FEM, hydrodynamic, and CFD — play a central role in guiding and validating interpretation.

offshore-rd-_apdo-6-advanced-data-analysis-ai

Advanced data analysis & AI for SHM

We develop predictive models for structural behavior and load estimation using machine learning and AI — enabling early detection of operational anomalies, continuous structural health tracking, and digital twins for predictive maintenance.

For mooring systems, this includes mooring line tension and integrity monitoring, correlating field measurements with hydrodynamic models to detect anomalous loading, fatigue accumulation, and early signs of degradation.
